Trump Slams “Cowardly” Comey in Latest Twitter Rant

Donald Trump, Trump, President Trump

President Donald Trump has laid off controversial tweets for the last few days but after a few days at his private golf resort in Bedminster, New Jersey he once again went on a Twitter rant early Sunday morning, as if to get the first word in before the Sunday morning talk shows. Knowing full well former FBI director James Comey would be a favorite topic of the day’s political interviews, Trump preemptively criticized him as “cowardly.”

“I believe the James Comey leaks will be far more prevalent than anyone ever thought possible. Totally illegal? Very ‘cowardly!’” Trump wrote. It’s unclear what the commander in chief meant by using the word “prevalent,” but some are interpreting to suggest that Comey may have actually secretly released even more sensitive information than he acknowledged in testimony last week.
Comey admitted under oath he told a friend to give a reporter information about his recollections of private conversations he had with the president. Comey kept detailed notes of his meetings with the president and insists he didn’t share any classified information. Still, Trump and his allies have labeled Comey a leaker although legal experts largely agree the former FBI chief didn’t actually do anything illegal.

Earlier Trump had warmed up his Sunday morning Twitter rant with his favorite topic: criticizing the media. This time, he blasted “fake news” for failing to report on the country’s “great economic news” since he was elected president.
The president also harshly criticized Democrats, calling them “obstructionists” who don’t have a clear message on what they want to achieve.
Both issues were covered by the president’s favorite morning news show, Fox and Friends, on Sunday.
